Nittan launches Smoke Sensors with Integral SounderNittan Europe launches Smoke Sensors with Integral Sounder

Nittan Europe Limited., a leading UK manufacturer of conventional and addressable fire detection products, has launched a new analogue addressable photoelectric smoke sensor with built in sounder.

Unlike other smoke sensors on the market which require a separate sounder base to be installed which adds to the cost of the installation and takes longer to fit, the Evolution EV-PS optical smoke sensor comes with the sounder fully integrated within the sensor itself.  Extremely competitively priced, the EV-PS allows for quick and simple installation, saving both time and money.

But it’s not only the installer that benefits from the new EV-PS, as integrating the sounder in the unit makes for a more aesthetically pleasing appearance, with a lower profile for an unobtrusive appearance.

Even with its compact size, the EV-PS still incorporates the latest sophisticated alarm technology for exceptional reliability and performance, including ASIC design, EEPROM addressable capability, low monitoring current and a chemically etched stainless steel insect screen to reduce ingress of insects and airborne contaminants.

For ease of use, the EV-PS features Nittan Europe’s OMNIVIEW 360 degree LED fire alarm indicator, permitting clear and visible indication of the sensor's operation from any angle, and a remote indicator output.

The EV-PS is compatible with Nittan Europe UB-4-EV and EV-PSBCN bases.

Chequered flag for Nittan Europe! New Brooklands Hotel protected by Nittan Europe

Evolution Reset Call Points now available from Nittan

Nittan Europe Limited., a leading UK manufacturer of conventional and addressable fire detection products, has had its Evolution fire alarm range installed into the new Brooklands Hotel in Surrey by NBE Fire and Security.

Located next door to Mercedes Benz World and within the legendary Brooklands motor racing circuit, Brooklands Hotel boasts beautiful art deco inspired interiors, restaurant and cocktail bar and contemporary conference and spa facilities, all with a knowing nod to the legacy of the world's first purpose built real race track.

To provide the best fire protection for the luxury new hotel, NBE Fire and Security has installed an Evolution Analogue fire detection system from Nittan Europe, featuring EV-DP dual optical detectors, EV-P optical detectors, EV-H-A1R heat detectors, call points and interfaces.  The system runs on eight loops controlled by two Advanced Electronics control panels networked together on a fault tolerant network.

The fire system is directly interfaced to the hotel’s own network via the RS232 output, from which information, including faults or fires, are immediately converted to voice announcements distributed to the relevant staff via DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Technology) phones.  As the fire detection system has an ‘investigation delay’ fitted, staff can quickly inspect any alerts and react accordingly.

Neil Birch, Director of NBE Fire and Security, chose to use Nittan Europe’s Evolution system as he has installed it successfully in hotels across the UK and has found it to be extremely reliable: “The big problem in hotels is steam from the bathrooms which sets off detectors in the rooms.  We use Nittan Europe’s EV-DP alarm in such instances as it’s specifically designed to reduce false alarms caused by steam.  We did think about using multi sensors but the rooms at Brooklands are so large [even the smallest rooms start at 31m² -almost 20% bigger than the average] we would have to use two devices per room; the dual optical alarm on the other hand allowed us to cover the entire room with just one device.”

The EV-DP alarm is designed using Nittan Europe’s award winning Dual Optical Technology.  Unlike other conventional detectors on the market that claim to distinguish between smoke and non-combustion products, the EV-DP effectively measures the actual particle size in the chamber via its combined IR and blue LED technology.  As steam and dust are much larger particles than smoke, the detector won’t false alarm.

Nittan Europe’s Evolution is the company’s premium fire system.  Evolution uses ASIC technology in the sensors and sophisticated detection algorithms, combining extremely reliable fire detection together with a very high degree of protection against unwanted false alarms.  It’s advanced, highly flexible protocol, is not only uniquely resistant to noise, but also allows for substantial amounts of information to be transmitted at high speed.

Evolution Reset Call Points now available from Nittan Europe

Evolution Reset Call Points now available from Nittan

Nittan Europe Limited., a leading UK manufacturer of conventional and addressable fire detection products, is pleased to announce the addition of four new call points to its Evolution range.

These analogue addressable call points are available with or without isolators and in a choice of STI ‘ReSet’ IP24 or IP67 housing. They mimic the feel of breaking glass whilst offering the user the benefits and environmental advantages of a re-settable plastic operating element.

The 'ReSet' uses a simple yet ingenious patented mechanism which consists of a rigid plastic operating element and an over centre spring mechanism. This arrangement provides real action on operation and simulates break glass activation. An activation indicator drops into view at the top of the window after the ‘ReSet’ has been operated. The unit is then simply reset with a key and is ready for re-use straight away.

The call points are approved to EN54-11:2001 and A1:2005, as well as to EN54-17:2005 for the models with isolators.

New Multi Sensors from Nittan Europe help reduce false alarms

New Multi Sensors from Nittan help reduce false alarms

Nittan Europe Limited., a leading UK manufacturer of conventional and addressable fire detection products, has launched two new Evolution multi sensors, designed using Nittan Europe’s award winning Dual Optical Technology to reduce false alarms.

Whilst both units feature Dual Optical sensing, the EV-DPH-A2R also incorporates an A2R (54ºC) heat detector and the EV-DPH-CS a CS (90 ºC) heat detector. As such, the units are capable of monitoring two very different by-products of a fire –smoke and heat – so response to all fire types is significantly improved when compared with single sensor type units.

The EV-DPH-A2R and EV-DPH-CS work on an FSK signalling protocol for robust, reliable communications and are EEPROM Addressed (Programmer). They feature RIL and base control outputs and come with a 360º OMNIVIEW™ LED indicator, permitting clear and visible indication of the sensor's operation from any angle.

Both sensors offer advantages in areas where risks are undetermined or variable, or where false alarms may be a particular problem, as well as areas where the highest level of protection is desirable. The EV-DPH-CS is particularly suited to areas with a high ambient temperature.

Approved to EN54-5:2000 + A1:2002 and EN54-7:200 + A1:2002 + A2:2006, the EV-DPH-A2R and EV-DPH-CS multi sensors are the latest additions to Nittan Europe’s Evolution range of Analogue Addressable products.

Award winning hotel opts for Nittan Europe Evolution smoke detection

Award winning hotel opts for Nittan Evolution smoke detection

Nittan Europe Limited., a leading UK manufacturer of conventional and addressable fire detection products, has had its Evolution fire detection range installed into the 4 star Kettering Park Hotel & Spa in Northamptonshire.

Opened by Shire Hotels in 1993, Kettering Park Hotel & Spa achieved Gold in the regional Enjoy England Excellence Awards in 2007-08. It features 119 executive guest rooms , Langberrys Restaurant, Lounge and Bar and a first class spa. The hotel prides itself on very high levels of hospitality and guest care and has consistently achieved excellent scores from the industry benchmark, the AA.

Kettering Park Hotel & Spa has been protected by the same fire detection system since its opening but fire prevention installer FI Solutions, who has worked with the hotel for eleven years, recommended the time was right for a new, up to date, system to be installed.

Andrew Jones Technical Service Manger of Shire Hotels explains: “We take the safety and security of our guests very seriously and are constantly looking at ways to improve, we know how disruptive and disconcerting it can be to our guests if there is a false alarm; therefore, having investigated various options, we decided we wanted the benefit of Nitans Evolution protocol and its EV DP sensors that are able to avoid potential false alarms caused by aerosols or steam”.

Nittan Europe’s Evolution fire system is based on a highly flexible Sine Wave FSK protocol, which has a uniquely high resistance to noise, unlike the traditional digital clock pulse based protocols. The protocol also allows for substantial amounts of information to be transmitted back to the panel, but without message collision and with minimal transmission errors due to a sophisticated data packet mechanism with automatic check-sum feature. The communication protocol is capable of very high speed and is not affected by the number of devices on the loop.

FI Solutions has so far replaced the two degraded loops which cover the plant rooms and some bedrooms and will be replacing the remaining four loops imminently. This has meant running two fire detection systems side by side for now, which could have proved difficult were it not for the support provided by Nittan Europe. Andy Bell comments: “this is the first time we have used Nittan Europe fire detection equipment and we’ve been very impressed. We liked the look of the Nittan Europe product and the way it works, but we have also had great support from Nittan Europe in terms of product, service and technical support dealing with engineers on site. I’d say it’s been top notch!”

A Bright Idea!
Nittan Europe enhances Evolution Sensors with brighter indicator

Nittan Europe Limited, a leading UK manufacturer of conventional and addressable fire detection products has, as part of its on going commitment to manufacturing quality products, enhanced its Evolution multi sensor range with an improved OMNIVIEW™ LED indicator.

Following feedback from customers – an important element to all Nittan Europe’s R&D - the 360 degree OMNIVIEW now incorporates a brighter LED light than ever before, allowing you to clearly see the sensor’s operation from any angle. The brighter OMNIVIEW will initially be available on Nittan Europe’s Evolution EV-DPH and EV-PS sensors, but will be rolled out to all sensors in the range that currently benefit from an OMNIVIEW indicator.

Evolution is Nittan Europe’s premium fire detection range for commercial and industrial applications. It combines extremely reliable fire detection together with a very high degree of protection against unwanted false alarms.

Products in the Evolution range use a highly flexible Sine Wave FSK protocol for a high resistance to noise, minimal transmission errors and the ability to transmit substantial amounts of information back to the panel. The communication protocol is capable of very high speed and is not affected by the number of devices on the loop, which can be as much as 254. In addition, the protocol allows for more inputs / outputs, more controllable features and more typecodes for devices, making for easy device identification on a system.
